Camel Races
Our most famous sport!
In the Middle East and Asia Camel Races are a serious and very popular sport. In Saudi Arabia for example, the Sheikhs bid millions of dollars on racing camels; the animals are worth a fortune!
The Sinai's Camel races are a bit smaller, prizes not so precious, however, they are not less spectacular! There are several races a year, with hundereds of participants from all major Bedouin tribes. Some people have to travel long distances loading their camels onto pick-up trucks, to participate in the numerous races. Prizes range from several hundred to about 20,000 Egyptian Pounds (approximately 2500 Euros) for the winning camel's owner.
Visiting a Camel Race is a unique event! Of course we can arrange your holiday to include one of the big race days.

Please note that all Camel Races are held in Winter and Spring, as it is too hot for the camels to race in the summer months!
